KIHL JUNIOR FINALS SERIES WEEKEND
KIHL Junior finals Series Weekend
KIHL Junior celebrated it's second season in with 8 teams across 2 Divisions competing for KIHL Championships.
With the Falcons Franchise represented by the Junior Fantails and Hawks already winning the Kiwi Cup as the best combined points during the Regular Season. All players who contributed to the Franchise have had their names added to the KIHL Kiwi Cup. Falcons Junior General Manager Richard Wang accepting the Kiwi Cup.
The Division 1 Playoff series seen the Fantails versus the Sharks and the Saints versus the Yellow Jackets in a best of 3 game series. The Fantails continued with their momentum with 2 convincing wins to wrap the series up, while the Saints and Yellow Jackets had a hard close fought battle. Saints managed to close game 1 with a 6 - 4 win but an under strength Yellow Jackets side came back hard in game 2 to push the Saints to overtime. The Saints getting the win in OT through a Toa Mihinui snipe 3 minutes into Overtime and booking a seat in the KIHL Junior Finals Series.
The Division 2 playoffs seen the Kings versus the Mantas and the Wasps versus the Hawks. The Kings putting on a dominant display and taking the series in 2 games, while the Hawks managed a win over the Wasps in game 1. Wasps came back strong taking Game 2 and forcing a game 3. The Wasps made no mistakes about their intentions and dominated game 3 and advancing to the KIHL Junior Division 2 Finals Series.
The Division 1 KIHL Finals Series was all one way traffic with the Fantails proving why they were in the Finals. The Saints Unfortunately not able to solve a relentless Fantails onslaught from start to finish. Fantails making a statement in game 1 winning 9 - 1. Game 2 seen a more physical game played by both sides who continued to show us what KIHL Finals hockey looks like with lots of emotions in high pressure matches. However the Fantails remained composed and continued to find the back of the net through the whole team contributing with all players registering points. Fantails Win 14 - 1 and Winning the KIHL Junior Division 1 Finals Series.
KIHL Division 2 Finals Series seen the Kings and Yellow Jackets who had close battles all season now play in a best of 3 game Finals Series. Game 1 was a close fought game with a scoreless halftime. However Lachie Johnson-Elder had other plans slotting the only goal of the game with 4 minutes left and the Kings closing out game 1. Game 2 the Wasps grabbed the early lead and then the Kings drawing level just before half time. The Kings then put on a second half Performance and banking 2 more goals to win 4 - 1 and winning the KIHL Junior Division 2 Finals Series.
