KIHL OPENING WEEKEND ROUND - UP

KIHL OPENING WEEKEND started with a BANG as 125 Players arrived in New Plymouth ahead of Round 1.

Mana Cup opened with a moment of silence for the victims of the recent floods throughout New Zealand, A really nice moment shared by players and officials. Game 1 seen a first glance of KIHL's Newest Franchise Division 2 Tui matched up against the Marlins. General Manager Craig Young and his Tui taking their first franchise win 5 - 2. Division 1 Falcons then opened their Inaugural Season against KIHL Season 1 Championship Winning Dolphins. Falcons Captain Daniel Garrow playing in his first KIHL game opened the scoring. Falcons went on to upset the Dolphins taking the Win 5 - 2.

After OPENING WEEKEND Division 1 standings see Dolphins with 3 wins from 4 games, while Falcons sit in second with 2 wins from 3 games. Royals, Soldiers and Sting sit on 3 points each with 1 win and 2 losses each.

Players to watch in Division 1. Royals Jason McMahon playing in his first KIHL game and seemed to be in control all weekend netting 5 goals in his first 3 games. Sting and KIHL U21 MVP Braeden Kettle continues to add to his Season 1 Statistics adding 5 Points from his weekend totals. Josh (McBlaster) McMaster was in fine form after being protected by the Dolphins from Season 1. Josh leads Division 1 in points currently with 8 points from 4 games. 

Division 2 and it's all Knights

The Knights finished the weekend at the top of the Division 2 table with 3 wins. A Shootout thriller held them to 8 points. However the Knights lead in every category needed to win games. YoungGun Daniel Middleton leading Division 2 in Points and Goals, Second in Assists to Team mate Elliott Tam. Middleton also leads in points per game with a 2.7, has a Game winning goal a power play and a shorthanded goal. Knights also lead with the least amount of penalty minutes with 2 minutes. Season 1 Mana Cup MVG Kaleb Rock also managed 3 wins, 41 Saves (Most in Division 2) and managed a Shutout.
